Choose the right QR Code type

Each QR Code type stores information differently, and picking the wrong one is the most common beginner mistake. A link code needs internet to open its destination; a contact or text code works offline, because the information is stored inside the code itself. See which one fits your case:

• Link QR Code (URL) — opens a website in the browser. The most used: menus, social media, forms and packaging.
• Wi-Fi QR Code — connects a phone to your network without anyone typing the password.
• PIX QR Code — receives payments in the Brazilian "copy and paste" standard.
• WhatsApp QR Code — opens a chat with you, with the message pre-filled.
• Contact QR Code (vCard) — the person saves your details to their address book with one tap.
• Email QR Code — opens the mail app with recipient and subject ready.
• SMS QR Code — opens the message with the text ready and works without internet.
• Phone QR Code — opens the dialler with the number, no typing.
• Text QR Code — stores the information inside the code, ideal for labels and asset tagging.
• App download QR Code — sends iPhone to the App Store and Android to Google Play.

How to create one in four steps

1. Choose the tab for the QR Code type you need.
2. Fill in the fields. Check them carefully — the content is permanently baked into the code.
3. Customize the colors and, if you want, add your logo in the centre.
4. Download as PNG for screen use, or SVG to print without losing quality.

PNG or SVG: which to download

PNG is a pixel image, ideal for social media, presentations, email and web use. SVG is vector: the file describes the shapes mathematically, so it scales from a sticker to a billboard without losing a pixel of sharpness.

The rule is simple: if the code will be printed, use SVG — it is the format every print shop prefers to receive. If it stays on screen, PNG is fine. Both are free here, with no watermark and no sign-up.

The mistake that costs the most: size

Printing a thousand flyers and finding the code will not scan is an avoidable loss. The industry rule of thumb is the 10-to-1 ratio: the side of the QR Code should measure at least a tenth of the distance people will scan from.

• Business card, scanned from 25 cm → minimum 2.5 cm.
• Table menu, scanned from 35 cm → minimum 3.5 cm.
• Wall poster, scanned from 1.5 m → minimum 15 cm.
• Event banner, scanned from 4 m → minimum 40 cm.

And leave the white margin clear around the code: the specification requires the equivalent of 4 modules of clear space, and letting text or a frame touch it is one of the most common causes of failure. The full table by material is in the print size guide.

Your data never leaves your browser

All processing happens on your device. The URL, the Wi-Fi password, the payment key, the contact details — none of it is sent to our servers. We have no way of seeing that information and therefore no way of leaking it.
