App Download QR Code Generator
One code that sends iPhone to the App Store and Android to Google Play.
One QR detects iPhone/Android and sends each to the right store.
Your app apps.apple.com URL
Your app play.google.com URL
Opened on desktop or when the OS is not detected
PNG/SVG; uses high error correction automatically
Fill in the fields to generate your QR Code
Promoting an app with two QR Codes side by side — "iPhone here, Android there" — works badly: half the people scan the wrong one, land in the store that is not theirs and give up. This type solves it with a single code that works out which system the person is using and sends them to the correct store.
How the detection works
The QR Code points to an intermediate address on our domain. When someone opens it, that address identifies the device operating system from the information the browser itself sends, and redirects:
- iPhone and iPad go straight to the App Store link.
- Android goes straight to the Google Play link.
- Desktop or an unrecognised system gets a simple page with buttons for the available stores, including an alternative link if you configured one.
People see no intermediate screen on mobile: the redirect is immediate and the impression is that the code led straight to the store.
How to create yours
- Paste your App Store link. Open the app page in the store and copy the address from the browser bar.
- Paste the Google Play link the same way.
- If you want, provide an alternative address — usually the product website — for people scanning from a computer.
- Download as SVG for printed material or PNG for screen use.
You can fill in only one store if your app exists on just one platform. In that case, anyone on the other system sees the page with the available link.
Why we only accept official store links
An address that redirects anywhere supplied by a parameter is an open invitation to fraud: someone could build a link with our domain in front and a fake site as the destination, borrowing our appearance of legitimacy.
That is why automatic redirection only happens for Apple and Google addresses. An alternative address you provide is never opened on its own — it only appears as a button for the person to click deliberately. This is a deliberate limitation.
Where to use it
- Launch posters and banners.
- Packaging for products with a companion app.
- Point-of-sale material and window stickers.
- Trade show booths and events.
- Print ads and direct mail.
- Presentation slides and live demos.
- Installation manuals for equipment that needs the app to be configured.
Good practice
- Write the app name next to the code. People who do not scan can search the store by name.
- Test with both systems before printing. Scan with an iPhone and an Android and confirm each lands in the right store.
- Recheck the links after any change in the stores. If the app identifier changes, the code has to be regenerated.
- Consider the scanning distance. On an event banner read from 3 metres, the code needs to be at least 30 cm per side.
About measuring installs
This code does not count scans. If you need to measure a campaign, use the tracking links the stores themselves provide — Apple and Google both let you add campaign parameters to the address, and the reports appear in each store dashboard. Paste the link here with the parameters already in place and attribution works normally.
Other QR Code types
Each QR Code type stores information in a different way. See which one best fits your case:
- Link QR Code (URL) — opens a website in the browser.
- Wi-Fi QR Code — connects to the network without typing the password.
- PIX QR Code — receives payments in the Brazilian standard.
- WhatsApp QR Code — opens the chat with a ready message.
- Contact QR Code (vCard) — saves your details to the address book.
- Email QR Code — opens the mail app with the subject filled in.
- SMS QR Code — opens the message with the text ready.
- Phone QR Code — opens the dialler with the number.
- Text QR Code — stores the information and works offline.
Frequently asked questions
How does the code know whether it is iPhone or Android?
The intermediate address identifies the system from the information the device browser sends when opening it, and redirects to the matching store. On mobile the process is immediate and invisible.
Do I need to fill in both stores?
No. If your app exists on only one, fill in just that one. Anyone on the other system sees a page with the available link instead of a redirect.
What happens if someone scans from a computer?
A simple page appears with buttons for the stores you configured, plus the alternative address if you provided one. Nothing is opened automatically on desktop.
Can I point it at my own site instead of a store?
You can provide it as an alternative address, but it will never open automatically — it only appears as a clickable button. Automatic redirection is restricted to App Store and Google Play addresses, to stop the route being used in scams.
Does this code depend on your site to work?
Yes, this is the only type that does: the redirect happens at an address of ours. If you prefer complete independence, generate two separate link QR Codes, one per store.
Can I tell how many people installed?
Not from the code itself. Use the campaign parameters the App Store and Google Play offer: paste the link here with those parameters already included and follow the reports in each store dashboard.
