About — QR Code NW

QR Code NW is a free QR Code generator maintained by Abner Meirelles, in Brazil. The site has existed since 2026 and came out of a concrete irritation: almost every QR Code generator out there either charges a subscription to unlock a decent download, or stamps a watermark on the code, or — worse — creates codes that depend on the company server to work and stop scanning when the service shuts down.

What we do differently

Codes are generated in your browser. Nothing you type — link, Wi-Fi password, PIX key, contact details — passes through our servers. We have no way of seeing that information and therefore no way of leaking it.
Codes are static and permanent. They do not point at a redirector of ours. If this site goes offline tomorrow, every QR Code you have already downloaded keeps working forever.
SVG download, free. The vector format is what a print shop needs to print without losing quality, and it is exactly what most competitors keep behind a paywall.
No sign-up, no limits, no watermark. You can generate as many codes as you want and use them commercially.

How this works technically

Generation happens entirely in JavaScript running on your device. When you type a PIX key, for example, your browser assembles the text in the Central Bank standard, calculates the check code, draws the module matrix and produces the file — all locally. The server delivers the page and steps out of the way.

You can verify this: disconnect from the internet after the page has loaded and carry on generating codes normally. If any data needed to reach a server, that would not work.

Our editorial policy

This is a content site that contains a tool, not the other way round. We write guides about QR Codes because most of what exists online on the subject is shallow, repetitive or simply wrong — especially about print size, error correction and the difference between static and dynamic codes.

Authorship. All content is written and reviewed by Abner Meirelles before publication.
Practical verification. The technical recommendations we give are tested on real devices, iPhone and Android, before they become text.
Honesty about limitations. When our tool is not the best solution for a case, we say so and point to the alternative — including when the alternative is your bank or a paid service.
Corrections. If you find incorrect information, write to us. We fix it and record the update date.

How the site sustains itself

QR Code NW is free and intends to stay that way. Server and domain costs are covered by advertising shown on the pages. We do not sell data, we have no paid plan and we do not put features behind a subscription.

Ads are identified as such and never influence what we recommend in the guides.

What you can do here

The generator currently covers ten QR Code types: link, Wi-Fi, PIX, WhatsApp, contact (vCard), email, SMS, phone, plain text and app download. In all of them you can customize the colors, add a logo in the centre and download as PNG or SVG.
